Blinn College women’s soccer opened its 2026 season Thursday with a 3-1 loss to Butler Community College in a neutral-site, non-region matchup in Corsicana.
The Buccaneers got off to a quick start when freshman forward Amanda Millar scored an unassisted goal in the second minute to give Blinn an early 1-0 lead.
Butler responded with two goals before halftime to take a 2-1 advantage into the break. The Grizzlies added another goal in the second half to secure the victory and drop Blinn to 0-1 on the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Reese Cauthen recorded seven saves for the Buccaneers. Butler finished the match with 16 shots, while Blinn recorded five.
Despite taking the early lead, Blinn was unable to maintain its advantage as the Buccaneers experimented with some changes during the season opener. Head coach Alexandria Jackson indicated the team plans to return to its established style of play as it prepares for its next matchup.
Blinn will have an opportunity to even its record when the Buccaneers host North American University in their home opener at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hohlt Park in Brenham.
Blinn College has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and has captured 53 national championships since 1987.
