On Friday, January 23, 2026, the Austin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary of a habitation in the New Ulm area off Bernard Road in Austin County. A report was taken after several items were discovered missing from the residence, including a Polaris Ranger.
On Saturday, January 24, 2026, a neighbor in Colorado County reported suspicious activity involving a male subject driving an ATV down a roadway and hiding it in the woods on property that did not belong to him. The Colorado County Sheriff’s Office responded and located the Polaris Ranger, along with multiple other items that had been taken from the Austin County residence. The Polaris Ranger was confirmed as stolen and recovered.
On Monday, January 26, 2026, Investigator D. Hagen and Lt. V. Minyard with the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, along with Investigator Weido, Investigator Mican, and deputies with the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, executed an Austin County felony arrest warrant at a residence in Colorado County. The warrant was for probation violations related to Theft of Property valued over $30,000 but less than $150,000, a third-degree felony under Texas law. This offense carries a possible penalty of 2 to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Quincy Janszen was arrested and transported to the Austin County Jail.
Following a consensual search of the residence and surrounding property, investigators recovered additional stolen property connected to the burglary.
While Janszen remained in custody, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Investigator Hagen executed two additional Austin County felony arrest warrants for Burglary of a Habitation and Theft of Property valued at $2,500 or more but less than $30,000 (Enhanced).
Burglary of a habitation is a second-degree felony, which can carry 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Theft in the $2,500 to $30,000 range is typically a state jail felony, punishable by 180 days to 2 years in a state jail facility and a fine of up to $10,000; enhancement allegations can increase the severity of punishment.
In addition, Colorado County executed two probation violation warrants related to Burglary of a Habitation and Escape While Arrested or Confined, both felony offenses under Texas law. Escape charges can range from a state jail felony to a higher-level felony, depending on the circumstances of the confinement.
Due to the coordinated efforts of the Austin County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, along with the vigilance of area residents, a suspect was taken into custody and multiple stolen items were recovered.
