The 2024 Austin County Fair Shrimp Boil Fundraiser held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the Austin County Fair Grounds was a resounding success, bringing the community together to celebrate and support the upcoming fair. The evening was filled with excitement as the Fair Queen candidates were introduced, and the highly anticipated entertainment lineup was unveiled.
Meet the Fair Queen Candidates
This year’s Fair Queen contest features a remarkable group of young ladies, each representing different parts of the county and supported by various local sponsors. The candidates are:
- Carly Allen from Sealy, sponsored by Double M Fencing
- Lylah Durrett from Wallis, representing Brazos FFA, sponsored by Sim-Tex
- Taylor Eckelberg from Bellville, sponsored by Austin County 4-H
- Ainsley Hancock from Bellville, sponsored by Bellville Meat Market
- Kayleigh Kendrick from Bellville, sponsored by First National Bank of Bellville
- Kaitlyn Kloss from Sealy, sponsored by Cody Haveman Farrier Service
- Eryn Kruzel from Sealy, sponsored by Quality Machine
- Alana Lindsay from Sealy, sponsored by Twisted Willow by Donna
- Rylea Roecker from Wallis, sponsored by Brazos FFA
- Samantha Weems from Bellville, sponsored by Lone Star Bounce, LLC
The candidates will be selling tickets to raise funds, with proceeds supporting their candidacy and contributing to the scholarship fund. The community is encouraged to support these young ladies by purchasing tickets from them.
Entertainment Lineup
The entertainment committee announced a stellar lineup for this year’s fair, thanks to an increased budget from the executive board. The acts lined up promise to provide a diverse and exciting array of performances:
- Los Texmaniacs with Augie Meyers and Flaco Jiménez from the Texas Tornados and The DeltaBoyz on Saturday, October 5th
- Little Texas and Aaron Watson on Thursday, October 10th
- Austin Snell and Corey Kent on Friday, October 11th
- Walker Montgomery and the Randy Rogers Band on Saturday, October 12th
Fundraising Challenges
One notable update was the announcement regarding the beer barn, which sustained heavy damage during Hurricane Barrel. Donations are being collected to repair the barn. Fair Highlights
In addition to the music, the Austin County Fair will host a range of activities, including the PRCA sanctioned rodeo with events such as calf roping, bronc riding, barrel racing, and bull riding. Attendees can also look forward to seeing the hard work of local youth showcased in agriculture, livestock, ag mechanics, and home economics displays.
