The San Felipe Police Department released the following press release on their Facebook Page:
A local man has been arrested for stealing road material from a work site along I-10.
Donald Gurecky, 39, of Wallis was arrested the night of April 16, 2020 driving his 18 wheeler gravel truck with a load of stolen material. The material had been stockpiled near San Felipe and was to be used on I-10 construction.
San Felipe Police Department and Austin County Sheriff Deputies stopped Gurecky about 8 pm after he left Webber Construction.
Witnesses observed Gurecky loading road material onto the trailer of his 18-wheeler.
Gurecky was stopped shortly after leaving the construction site and was placed in the Austin County jail. His tractor trailer rig was towed.
Gurecky was released after posting a $5,000.00 bond.
San Felipe Police Chief David Randle and Sheriff’s Investigator Brad Murray are leading the investigation.
“We are expecting other arrests in this matter”, Chief Randle said.
“Anyone with information should contact the San Felipe Police Department or the Austin County Sheriff’s office,” Randle added.
