In The Living Room – with Kate’s Kans: Warmth, Food & Hope

Join us in the living room with Kate Mize from Kate’s Kans, a heartfelt initiative under First United Methodist Church of Sealy, helping fight food insecurity and support those in need right here in Austin County!

In this episode, Kate shares the story behind Kate’s Kans, from stocking the Little Red Pantry at 200 Atchison Street in Sealy to delivering direct help to families and individuals facing tough times. With cold weather approaching, she’s launching Kits for Kindness: care bags packed with high-calorie snacks (like Slim Jims, trail mix, peanut butter crackers), warm items (hats, gloves, socks, flannel blankets), cup noodles, water, and even a little holiday treat to brighten someone’s day.
Each kit costs around $12 to assemble, and the goal is to prepare at least 24 (or more!) to help our local and transient homeless population stay warm and fed.
