In The Living Room – With Bernice Burger, Incumbent Candidate for Justice of the Peace Precinct 4

We were so glad to have Bernice Burger with us today!

Bernice is the incumbent Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 in Austin County, Texas, with over 11 years on the bench and 25 years of prior law enforcement experience, including time with the Austin County Sheriff’s Department and 21 years with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), where she served as a sergeant.

A lifelong Austin County resident, she has raised her family here, mentored students at local high schools, served on the Austin County Fair Board, revived the Wallis Lions Club, and remains active in community leadership.

In our conversation, she shared her passion for the role, her approach to balancing fairness and compassion in handling Class C misdemeanors, civil matters like small claims and evictions, inquests, magistrate duties, and her commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and treating everyone equally under the law.
