Thank you to Chief Kevin Bellville and his daughter Kayla for spending time with us in the studio! We loved having them and can’t wait to welcome them back for more fun — whether that’s cooking up something delicious or getting creative with some crafting as we head into the upcoming Valentine’s holiday.
Muddie Buddies aka Puppy Chow
Ingredients:
1 cup semisweet or dark chocolate chips
1 cup creamy peanut butter
6 cups Rice Chex cereal (up to 7 cups if needed)
1½ cups powdered sugar, divided
Instructions:
Melt chocolate & peanut butter.
Melt together in the microwave (30-second bursts,
stirring between) or on the stovetop until smooth.
Put 3 cups cereal in a large bowl. Pour in about
half the chocolate mixture and stir.
Add remaining 3 cups cereal and the rest of the
chocolate mixture. Stir until evenly coated.
(If chocolate pools at the bottom, add cereal
¼ cup at a time, up to 7 cups total.)
Cool slightly.
Let mixture cool until at or below room temperature.
You don’t want it hot, but not hardened.
Sugar time.
Add 1 cup powdered sugar and gently mix.
Chill.
Refrigerate for about 15 minutes.
Finish coating.
Add remaining powdered sugar ¼ cup at a time until
coated to your liking.
Store.
Keep in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes:
Chocolate: Dark or semisweet is best so it’s not overly sweet.
Cereal: Rice Chex works great; Crispex also works.
Peanut butter: Any nut or seed butter can be substituted.
Important tip: Letting the mixture cool before adding
powdered sugar gives you clumps instead of sludge.
