Public Opening: The Sea of Mud Exhibit

March 30 @ 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Join us for a celebration of San Felipe De Austin’s newest temporary exhibition, El Mar de Lodo or The Sea of Mud.

The public opening will held be on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 with a special lecture from Dr. Gregg Dimmick, the avocational archeologist who re-discovered the Mexican Army’s route through the Sea of Mud at 1 PM that day in the Old 300 Learning Hall. The exhibit’s curator will also be on hand throughout the day to answer your questions and help you explore The Sea of Mud. The exhibit will run through Labor Day, Monday, September 2nd, 2019 and is free to the public.

Featuring artifacts on loan from the Texas A&M Cushing Library, many of which are on public display for the first time, this exhibit has stunning pieces of military equipment including parts of Mexican Army uniforms, munitions, and arms as well as pieces related to the civilians and camp followers who travelled with the Army.
