The third wave of the opioid epidemic is here, as new synthetics [fentanyl analogs] – that are 10,000 times as potent as morphine – are attributing to the latest surge in deaths.

In yet another bizarre twist in this developing story was the decision by authorities to raze the compound where a dozen children were being trained to commit school shootings. This after New Mexico judge Sarah Backus on Monday ordered four out of five alleged Muslim extremists free on a $20,000 “signature bond” (meaning they didn’t have to pay), including the suspect in his son’s murder, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj.

A San Francisco Jury awarded $289 million in damages to a former school groundskeeper, Dewayne Johnson, who said Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller gave him terminal cancer. The award consists of $40 million in compensatory damages and $250 million in punitive damages. 

Today saw two arsonists charged with starting some of the deadly wildfires that have consumed well over half a million acres in California. There are now over 14,000 on the frontline with crews, including almost 2,000 inmates, 200 soldiers, and dozens of firefighters from overseas fighting fires and some are projecting that they may not get the fires under control until September.
