Brazos FFA delivered an outstanding performance at the District Leadership Development Events (LDEs), with 10 teams advancing to the Area XI contest. These contests tested a range of skills, including public speaking, agricultural advocacy, and technical knowledge, highlighting the diverse talents of the chapter’s members.
The chapter secured second-place finishes in Ag Issues, Ag Advocacy, Public Relations, and Senior Chapter Conducting. In the Ag Issues event, students researched and presented multiple perspectives on a current agricultural topic. Ag Advocacy emphasized promoting agriculture through engaging and informative presentations. Public Relations required participants to address a mock scenario by crafting and delivering a professional media presentation. Senior Chapter Conducting tested members’ mastery of parliamentary procedure through a simulated business meeting. In addition to these top-tier results, Brazos FFA achieved third place in Radio Broadcasting, Greenhand Chapter Conducting, Greenhand Quiz, Senior Quiz, Senior Spanish Creed, and Greenhand Spanish Creed. Radio Broadcasting tasked teams with creating and delivering a 5-minute agriculture-themed program, while the quiz events challenged participants’ knowledge of FFA history and current agricultural topics. The Spanish Creed contests involved reciting the FFA Creed in Spanish and answering questions about its meaning, demonstrating both confidence and bilingual communication skills.
Other Brazos FFA members earned high placements as well. The Senior and Junior Skills teams placed fourth, showcasing hands-on demonstrations of agricultural practices such as equipment operation or veterinary techniques. In the Job Interview contest, which simulates a real-world hiring process, Brazos FFA’s competitor placed sixth, impressing judges with professional resumes and interview skills. The Greenhand Creed speaker, representing first-year FFA members, placed seventh with a clear and passionate recitation of the FFA Creed. These results reflect the dedication and preparation of Brazos FFA members, who are now focused on the upcoming Area XI contest. Their success at District LDEs is a testament to their hard work, and the chapter looks forward to representing their school and community in the next round of competition.
