The Austin County EMS Director Walter Morrow spoke to the Sealy City Council to give an update on the EMS in relations to service calls and how the EMS is currently serving the area.

Austin County will start using Vote Centers for the May 7th elections. Previously, a voter had to go to one certain location based 
on registration address, but the new program allows voting from any location in the county.

Yesterday’s Election Results are in (unofficially) between local state and national levels of government and we have a highlight summary of the bigger races.

The Austin County led, Westside Narcotics Task Force executed a search and arrest warrant at 1750 CR 218 in Weimar, Texas which was the culmination of a months- long investigation involving methamphetamine trafficking. The warrant resulted in arrest and confiscation of drugs and firearms.

The Austin County Office of Emergency Management has released an update for the freezing weather affecting the county.

A routine traffic stop in Columbus turned deadly yesterday when the subject fled initiating a high speed chase. The suspect crashed the vehicle which caught fire killing the suspect. The incident remains under investigation.

A 26-year-old, who was wanted for questioning about the death of his father, was caught in Austin County on Hwy 159 just over the Waller County Line.  The man is being charged with evading and could be facing more charges after an autopsy is performed on the body of his father.
