Austin County has issued a “Declaration of Disaster” banning certain types of fireworks. This is due to the dry conditions that have resulted from long term drought that is affecting Texas. The ban goes into effect at 5pm today. The ban includes bottle rockets, rockets with fins and roman candles. It does NOT ban artillery shells or multi-shots.

The Austin County Commissioners Court held an EMS Station Construction Workshop discussing the three EMS Stations that are to be built in Austin County. The Stations are going to be constructed in Wallis, Industry and Bellville. Austin County recently completed the EMS station in Sealy and with the addition of these three new stations the county is set to be able to handle the population expansion as it is projected for at least the next ten years.
Austin County issued a burn ban at this weeks commissioners court meeting. As of right now the U.S. Drought Monitor has Austin County between a D1 (Moderate Drought) for the upper part of the county to D3 (Extreme Drought) for the lower parts of the county.
